Using Templates
Browse, apply, and customize pre-designed publication templates to give your flipbooks a polished, professional look.
Using Templates
ZenFlip provides pre-designed templates to help you create polished flipbooks without starting from scratch. Templates apply visual styling, branding presets, and viewer configurations so your publications look professional from the start.
What Templates Include
A ZenFlip template is a collection of visual settings applied to your flipbook viewer. Each template defines:
Color scheme - Background, accent, and text colors
Typography - Font selections for the viewer interface
Layout preferences - Viewer toolbar configuration and display options
Branding placement - Where and how logos and brand elements appear
Important: Templates style the flipbook viewer experience. They do not alter the content of your PDF pages. Your PDF's layout, text, and images remain exactly as you uploaded them.
Browsing Templates
To explore available templates:
From your dashboard, open a publication or create a new one
Navigate to the Design tab
Click Browse Templates to open the template gallery
The gallery organizes templates into categories:
Business - Clean, corporate designs suitable for reports, proposals, and presentations
Creative - Bold, expressive designs for portfolios, magazines, and catalogs
Minimal - Stripped-down designs that let your content take center stage
Education - Designs optimized for course materials, handbooks, and training documents
Each template shows a live preview so you can see exactly how it will look with your content.
Applying a Template
Browse the template gallery and find one you like
Click on the template to see a larger preview
Click Apply Template
The template's settings are applied to your publication
You'll see the changes reflected in the flipbook preview immediately. Your PDF content remains unchanged - only the viewer styling is updated.
Tip: You can switch templates as many times as you like. Each new template fully replaces the previous one's settings.
Customizing a Template
Templates are a starting point, not a constraint. After applying a template, you can customize any of its settings:
Adjusting Colors
Go to the Design tab of your publication
Modify the Primary Color, Background Color, or Text Color
Your changes override the template's defaults for those specific settings
Click Save
Changing Fonts
In the Design tab, locate the font settings
Select a different font from the dropdown
The new font replaces the template's default
Modifying Layout
Adjust toolbar visibility, page number display, and other layout options through the Design tab controls. Any changes you make override the template's defaults.
Templates vs. Custom Branding
Templates and custom branding work together but serve different purposes:
Templates | Custom Branding | |
Scope | Single publication | All publications |
Purpose | Quick visual styling | Consistent brand identity |
Includes logo | No | Yes |
Custom domain | No | Yes (Business+) |
Reusable | Yes, apply to any pub | Automatic across all |
How they interact: If you have global branding set up, applying a template to a specific publication overrides the visual settings (colors, fonts) for that publication only. Your logo and custom domain remain in place from your branding settings.
Creating a Consistent Look
If you publish multiple flipbooks and want them all to share the same look:
Apply your preferred template to one publication
Customize it until you're satisfied
Use the same template for your other publications
Alternatively, set up Custom Branding in your global settings to apply a consistent look automatically
