Publication Settings

Configure your flipbook's title, URL slug, description, visibility, password protection, and SEO options.

Publication Settings

Every ZenFlip publication has settings that control how it appears, who can access it, and how it shows up in search engines. You can configure these during creation or update them anytime after publishing.

Accessing Publication Settings

  1. Open your publication from the dashboard

  2. Click the Settings tab (or the gear icon)

  3. Make your changes

  4. Click Save

Changes to settings take effect immediately for published flipbooks.

Basic Information

Title

The title is the primary name of your publication. It appears in:

  • The flipbook viewer header

  • Your dashboard listing

  • Social media preview cards when the link is shared

  • Search engine results

Best practice: Choose a clear, descriptive title. Keep it under 60 characters so it displays fully in search results.

Slug

The slug is the URL-friendly identifier for your publication. It determines your flipbook's web address:

  • ZenFlip auto-generates a slug from your title, but you can customize it

  • Use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only

  • Keep it short and descriptive

  • Changing the slug after publishing will break any existing links, so choose carefully

Description

The description is a brief summary of your publication. It appears in:

  • Social media preview cards (Open Graph / Twitter Cards)

  • Search engine result snippets

  • Your dashboard for quick reference

Best practice: Write 1-2 sentences that accurately describe the content. Aim for 120-160 characters for the best search engine display.

Visibility Settings

Visibility controls who can access your flipbook. You have three options:

Public

Anyone with the link can view your flipbook. The publication is also discoverable by search engines (unless you disable indexing in SEO settings). This is the default for most publications.

Private

Only you and your team members can view the publication. Private flipbooks:

  • Require authentication to view

  • Won't appear in search engines

  • Can't be embedded on external websites

  • Are useful for internal documents or work-in-progress content

Password Protected

Anyone with the link can view the flipbook, but they must enter a password first. This is useful for:

  • Client proofs and reviews

  • Premium content for subscribers

  • Internal documents shared with external partners

To set up password protection:

  1. Select Password Protected as the visibility option

  2. Enter a password in the field that appears

  3. Click Save

  4. Share the password separately with your intended audience

Tip: You can change the password anytime without affecting the publication URL. Just update it in settings and share the new password.

SEO Settings

ZenFlip gives you control over how your publication appears in search engines.

SEO Title

By default, the SEO title matches your publication title. You can override it with a custom title optimized for search. Keep it under 60 characters.

SEO Description

Override the default description with a custom meta description for search engines. Aim for 120-160 characters.

Search Engine Indexing

By default, public publications are indexable by search engines. You can disable this if you want the flipbook to be accessible via link but not appear in Google or other search results.

  • Allow indexing - Search engines can discover and list your publication

  • Block indexing - A noindex tag tells search engines not to list your publication

Open Graph & Social Sharing

When someone shares your flipbook link on social media, platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn display a preview card. ZenFlip automatically generates this using:

  • Your publication's title (or SEO title if set)

  • Your description (or SEO description if set)

  • A thumbnail of the flipbook's cover page

These are set automatically based on your title and description. For the best social sharing experience, make sure both fields are filled in with compelling, descriptive text.

Saving and Applying Changes

After updating any settings, click Save to apply. Here's what to keep in mind:

  • Title and description changes take effect immediately

  • Slug changes update the URL instantly - old URLs will stop working

  • Visibility changes take effect immediately

  • SEO changes may take time to reflect in search engines as they re-crawl your page
