Reader Portal Overview
Understand the reader portal — your branded hub where readers browse your catalogue, log in, purchase publications, and manage their library.
Reader Portal Overview
The reader portal is a branded, standalone web experience where your readers can:
Browse your publications and collections
Purchase or redeem access to content
Log in to their reader account
View and manage their personal library
Reset their password if forgotten
The portal lives at go.zenflip.io/your-brand by default. If you have a custom domain configured, it is served from your own domain (e.g. read.yourcompany.com).
Available on: Business and Enterprise plans.

The store page
The /store page shows your full catalogue inline — readers never need to leave your branded portal to browse and discover content.
What readers see:
Publications grid with cover images, titles, descriptions, and pricing badges (a FREE badge for free titles, the price for paid ones)
Collections with bundle covers and descriptions
Clicking a publication opens a detail view with a "Read Now" button (free titles) or a "Purchase for [price]" button (paid titles) — purchasing opens Razorpay checkout
Live search across all publication and collection titles
My Library link in the navigation for signed-in readers
Sign-in prompt for anonymous visitors who try to access gated content
Content in the store is pulled from your publication and collection settings — pricing, cover images, and descriptions are managed from your ZenFlip publisher dashboard.
Forgot password flow
Readers who forget their password can reset it from the portal login page:
Reader clicks Forgot password? on the login page
Enters their email address
Receives a branded reset email within a few minutes — the email uses your organisation name
Clicks the reset link (valid for 1 hour)
Sets a new password and is redirected to their library
The reset link points to your portal's own /reset-password page — readers stay within your branded experience throughout.
Note: For security, the forgot-password form always shows a success message regardless of whether the email is registered. This prevents email enumeration attacks.
Reader accounts
Reader accounts are separate from publisher accounts. A reader's email can be registered with multiple publisher portals simultaneously — their library and preferences are scoped per publisher.
Readers can create an account from the portal signup page or receive an activation email from a purchase or access code redemption. After activation, they set a password and can log in to their library.
Progressive Web App (PWA)
Readers can install the portal as a Progressive Web App (PWA) directly from their mobile browser — no app store required. On iOS, they tap Share > Add to Home Screen in Safari. On Android, Chrome shows an install prompt automatically.
Once installed, the portal launches in full-screen mode with a dedicated icon, behaves like a native app, and can access cached content offline.
Customising the portal
The portal inherits your branding settings from Settings > Branding:
Your logo appears in the portal header
Your brand colour is used for buttons and accents
Your organisation name appears in the portal title and reset password emails
To use a custom domain, configure it in Settings > Domain. The portal will be served from your domain automatically once DNS is verified.
Frequently asked questions
Do readers need a ZenFlip account to buy from my portal? Readers who purchase through your portal receive an activation email and set up a reader account as part of the process. For free publications, readers can read without an account.
Can I disable reader self-registration? Not currently — reader signup is open by default. You can use password protection or access codes to restrict who can actually access your content.
Is the portal available in multiple languages? The portal UI currently renders in English. Your publication content is displayed in whatever language the PDF is in.
What happens if I downgrade from Business to Creator? The portal becomes inaccessible on Creator plans. Readers with existing accounts and purchases retain their records in the system and will regain access if you upgrade again.
