v1.3 — Word & PowerPoint Upload, Rich Media Editor & Template Gallery

Upload Word and PowerPoint files directly — ZenFlip converts them automatically. Edit any publication after upload with the new rich media editor, design from scratch with canvas mode, or start from a professionally designed template.

The most-requested feature since launch: you can now upload Word documents and PowerPoint presentations alongside PDFs. This release also ships a post-upload editor and a template gallery — making ZenFlip a complete publishing tool, not just a PDF converter.

Word & PowerPoint Upload

ZenFlip now accepts .docx, .doc, .pptx, and .ppt files in addition to PDF. Files are converted server-side using a high-fidelity rendering pipeline that preserves fonts, images, tables, charts, and embedded media.

Upload a Word report, a PowerPoint deck, or a PDF — the workflow is identical. ZenFlip handles the conversion; you get a flipbook in seconds.

For teams managing publication libraries programmatically, the Publisher Ingest API also accepts Word and PowerPoint files via binary upload or URL.

Rich Media Editor

After uploading, publishers can now edit any page directly in ZenFlip — without returning to the source file. The rich media editor supports:

  • Text editing — click any text block to edit, reformat, or delete it

  • Image replacement — swap images without re-uploading the whole document

  • Embedded video — paste a YouTube or Vimeo URL to embed a video directly onto a page

  • Clickable links — add or edit hyperlinks on any text or image

  • Annotations — add callout boxes, banners, and sticky notes on top of any page

Edits are non-destructive: the original uploaded file is always preserved and you can revert any page to its original state.

Free-Form Canvas Mode

For publications created from scratch rather than uploaded documents, Canvas Mode provides a blank-page design environment. Drag and drop text blocks, images, shapes, and embeds anywhere on the page — no grid constraints.

Canvas Mode is designed for newsletters, event programmes, product sheets, and any content where the design matters as much as the text.

Start from a professionally designed layout instead of a blank page. The Template Gallery launches with 40+ templates across six categories:

  • Business — annual reports, investor decks, corporate brochures

  • Publishing — magazines, catalogues, lookbooks

  • Education — course handouts, university prospectuses, study guides

  • Non-profit — donor reports, impact publications, fundraising materials

  • Marketing — product sheets, case studies, sales decks

  • Events — programmes, schedules, speaker bios

All templates are fully editable in the Canvas editor after selection. Publishers on Creator plans and above can save their own layouts as private templates for reuse across publications.

See the template gallery for a preview of available designs.

Flipbook Preview in Template Browser

When browsing templates, clicking any design opens a live flipbook preview — you can page through the full template before selecting it. The preview uses the same viewer as your published flipbooks, so what you see in the browser is exactly what your readers will see.

Word and PowerPoint upload is available on all plans. The rich media editor and Canvas Mode are available on Starter plans and above. The template gallery is available to all users. See pricing for plan details.
