Whether you're ready to unlock more features or need to adjust your plan, ZenFlip makes it straightforward to manage your subscription. This guide covers upgrades, downgrades, cancellations, and how billing cycles work.
Accessing Subscription Settings
Click Settings in the top navigation
Select the Billing tab
You'll see your current plan, billing cycle, next payment date, and payment method
Upgrading Your Plan
When you're ready for more publications, team members, or advanced features:
Go to Settings > Billing
Click Change Plan
Select the plan you'd like to upgrade to
Review the pricing summary
Click Confirm Upgrade
How Upgrade Billing Works
Immediate access - You get access to the new plan's features right away
Prorated charges - You're only charged for the remaining days in your current billing cycle at the new rate. The difference between what you've already paid and the new plan's cost is calculated and charged immediately.
Next billing cycle - From your next billing date onward, you're charged the full amount for the new plan
Price Lock applies - Your new plan locks in at the current price, protected by the Price Lock Pledge
Example: You're on Creator ($29/month) and upgrade to Business ($79/month) halfway through your billing cycle. You'll be charged approximately $25 now (the prorated difference for the remaining 15 days), and $79 on your next billing date.
Downgrading Your Plan
If you need fewer features or want to reduce costs:
Go to Settings > Billing
Click Change Plan
Select the plan you'd like to downgrade to
Review what features you'll lose
Click Confirm Downgrade
How Downgrade Billing Works
End of cycle - The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle. You keep your current plan's features until then.
No refunds - The remaining time on your current cycle is not refunded, but you continue to use the higher-tier features until the cycle ends.
Content preserved - Your existing publications, analytics data, and settings are kept. If you exceed the lower plan's publication limit, existing publications remain live but you can't create new ones.
What Happens to Features You Lose
When a downgrade takes effect:
Custom branding - If your new plan doesn't include branding, your publications revert to default ZenFlip branding
Custom domain - If your new plan doesn't include custom domain, flipbooks revert to
zenflip.appURLsTeam members - If your new plan supports fewer team members, you'll need to remove members to get within the limit (you'll be prompted before the downgrade finalizes)
Analytics - Advanced analytics features become unavailable, but your historical data is preserved
CSV export - Export features become unavailable, so download any data you need before downgrading
Switching Between Monthly and Annual Billing
Go to Settings > Billing
Click Billing Cycle
Choose Monthly or Annual
Review the pricing change
Click Confirm
Switching to Annual
When you switch from monthly to annual billing:
You're charged the annual amount immediately
Any unused time from your current monthly cycle is credited toward the annual payment
You save approximately 20% compared to monthly billing
Switching to Monthly
When you switch from annual to monthly billing:
The change takes effect at the end of your current annual period
From that point forward, you're billed monthly
No refund is issued for the remaining annual period
Canceling Your Subscription
If you need to cancel:
Go to Settings > Billing
Click Cancel Subscription
You'll be asked to confirm and optionally share the reason for canceling
Click Confirm Cancellation
What Happens After Cancellation
Access continues - You keep your paid plan's features until the end of your current billing cycle
Downgrade to Explorer - After the billing cycle ends, your account automatically moves to the free Explorer plan
Content preserved - All your publications remain in your account. If you have more than 10 (Explorer's limit), existing publications stay live but you can't create new ones.
Data retained - Your analytics data, leads, and settings are preserved for 90 days in case you resubscribe
Resubscribe anytime - You can resubscribe at any time. Note that if prices have changed, the current price applies (the Price Lock Pledge applies to continuous subscriptions only)
Billing Cycle FAQ
When am I charged? You're charged on the same date each month (or year for annual plans) from when you first subscribed. For example, if you subscribed on March 15, you're billed on the 15th of each month.
What if my payment fails? ZenFlip retries failed payments for up to 7 days. You'll receive email notifications about the failed payment. See Invoices & Payments for more details on resolving payment issues.
Can I pause my subscription instead of canceling? Pausing is not currently available. If you need a temporary break, you can cancel and resubscribe later. Your content is retained for 90 days.
