v2.1 — Trust, Governance & Insight

Stronger account security, single sign-on for the people who read your library, AI on your terms, and analytics that show where readers come from and what they act on.

v2.1 — Trust, Governance & Insight

v2.0 made ZenFlip ready for the way organizations work. v2.1 extends that trust in every direction: to the accounts that manage your publications, to the readers who sign in to them, and to the commitments your organization has made about accessibility and AI. It also gives you a clearer view of how readers find and use what you publish.

Account Security

Two-step verification

Every ZenFlip user can now protect their account with an authenticator app. Turn it on under Settings → Security, save your recovery codes, and each sign-in will ask for a six-digit code. Recovery codes can be regenerated at any time, and turning two-step verification off requires a current code. It's available on every plan.

Verified readers at checkout

Reader accounts now confirm their email address with a six-digit code, entered right inside the checkout prompt when it's needed, so readers never leave the purchase to find a verification link. Receipts, invoices and access reach the right person, and your sales records stay clean.

Single Sign-On for Your Readers

v2.0 brought single sign-on to the people who manage your publications. v2.1 brings it to the people who read them.

Under Settings → Reader SSO, connect your reader library to your identity provider over OpenID Connect or SAML. Employees, staff or members then open your library with the account they already have.

  • Access by group — map each identity-provider group to the collections it may read. New issues added to those collections reach the right people automatically, with no one to add by hand.

  • SSO-only libraries — optionally turn off password sign-in and self-registration, so your identity provider is the only way in.

  • Offboarding that follows your directory — when someone is deprovisioned through SCIM, their reader access ends with it.

Reader SSO is available on the Enterprise plan.

AI on Your Terms

Some organizations' policies require AI features to be switched off until they have been approved. ZenFlip can now turn off every AI feature for an organization in one step: chat, AI-generated tables of contents, image descriptions and search embeddings. Readers see no AI features, and your team sees a clear notice in Settings → AI. To request it, contact support@zenflip.io.

Accessibility, Documented and Extended

Our Accessibility Conformance Report is public

ZenFlip's Accessibility Conformance Report, on the VPAT® 2.5 International template covering WCAG 2.2, Section 508 and EN 301 549, is now published at zenflip.io/accessibility, with a PDF download. No form and no sales call. Procurement and accessibility teams can review it the moment they need it.

Transcripts and captions for video

Video hotspots now take a transcript and, for uploaded videos, timed captions, just as audio hotspots have since v2.0. Captions play through the browser's standard caption control. Show transcript opens the full text beneath the video, and transcripts appear in Text view alongside the rest of the publication.

Reader Drawing

Readers can now draw on pages with a pen, highlighter and eraser, in a choice of colours and sizes, with undo and redo. Drawings are saved to the reader's account and follow them across devices. On touch screens, pinch to zoom in for detail while drawing. Enable it per publication with Reader drawing under Viewer Controls. It's ideal for study guides, workbooks, training material and annotated reports. Available on Business plans and above.

Insight

Hotspot clicks, hotspot by hotspot

The Hotspot Clicks card now shows which individual hotspots readers click, not only which pages they click on. You can see which video, link or product callout actually earns attention. Available on Creator plans and above.

Where your readers come from

Traffic Sources now records the site that linked to a publication, or the page it is embedded in, so you can see which newsletters, partner sites and intranet pages drive readership. Visits with no referring site are shown as Direct. Available on Creator plans and above.

Uploads

Every PDF upload now goes directly to storage, including new versions, bulk uploads and your first upload during onboarding. Your plan's full file-size limit applies on every path, with byte-by-byte progress as the file uploads.

Ongoing security hardening and reliability improvements ship with every release.
